Award

Roland H. Acra '86 Master of Science in Analytics Award

Established in May 2013 by Roland H. Acra '86 to provide an award to the student(s) producing the most outstanding master's project in analytics in the Department of Statistics in the College of Science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


Susan M. Arseven '75 Endowment in Science for Women in Science and Engineering

Established in December 2001 by Dr. Ersen Arseven '74 in honor of his wife Susan. Funds from this endowment will fund the Susan M. Arseven '75 awards. Recipients of this award shall be a female graduate student pursuing a master's or doctorate degree at Texas A&M University in science, engineering, or technology.


John B. Beckham Award in Science

The John B. Beckham Award in Science was established in 1983 by friends and family of John Beckham in recognition of, and appreciation for, his 36 years of dedicated service to Texas A&M University in teaching, counseling and administration. It is the highest award in the College of Science and goes to the students who best exemplify characteristics of achievement, integrity, and leadership in their academic and extracurricular activities. Award winners receive $1,000 and a commemorative medallion.


Raymond J. Carroll Young Investigator Award

Established in January 2009 by friends, colleagues and former students in honor of Dr. Raymond J. Carroll. The award will be made bi-annually to a statistician who has made an important contribution to the area of statistics.


F. A. Cotton Endowed Memorial Graduate Travel Award

Distributions from this endowment in memory of Professor F.A. Cotton provides funds to be used for travel awards for students pursuing a graduate degree in the Department of Chemistry.


Lawrence S. Dillon Distinguished Graduate Student Award in Biological Sciences

Established in January 2001 by Patricia Dillon Moore in memory of her father to provide an annual award to a student pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in the biological sciences and who excels in research and/or teaching.


Excellence in Chemistry Award

Established in May 2014 by Cynthia A. and Dr. William R. Howell, Jr. '69 to recognize full-time students pursuing a degree from the Department of Chemistry.


John P. Fackler, Jr. Endowed Graduate Student Award in Science

Established in February 1998 by the family and friends of Dr. John P. Fackler, Jr. to honor him as former dean of the College of Science. This award recognizes excellence in research at the graduate level.


Hillel Halperin Mathematics Award Fund

Established in May 1947 in his memory by family members, this fund provides prizes for winner of annual freshman and sophomore mathematics contests.


Benjamin L. Hinds '55 Award in Science

Established in December 2013 by Mr. Benjamin L. Hinds '55 to support two students who have applied for graduation and have been accepted into medical school, have participated in numerous extracurricular activities, and are enrolled in the College of Science.


Jaan Laane Achievement Award

Established in December 2006 by family, friends, colleagues, and former students in honor of Dr. Jaan Laane. Funds from this endowment will be used to provide an award to one or more undergraduate chemistry majors in the middle of their third year of study with junior or early senior standing. The recipients should have at least 1.5 years at TAMU if they were a transfer student. Typically, the award will be given to chemistry majors with the hightest GPRs and who also participate in undergraduate research.


A. E. Martell Graduate Student Enrichment Fund

Established in the 1980 in honor of Dr. Arthur E. Martell on the occasion of his retirement from Texas A&M University. Distributions from this endowment provide funds to graduate students pursuing a degree in the Department of Chemistry.


Hugh E. McLean, Jr. Award in Chemistry

Established in 1971 to fund a scholarship for a senior chemistry major selected by the Department of Chemistry on the basis of academic merit and financial need. The award is presented annually in April.


Ruth J. & Howard F. Newton Memorial Graduate Student Teaching Award in Statistics

Established in May 2003 by Dr. H. Joseph Newton and wife Linda M.N. Newton '86 of Bryan, Texas in memory of Dr. Newton's parents, Ruth and Howard Newton. Funds will be used to support a graduate student pursuing a degree in statistics.


Emanuel & Carol Parzen Fund for Statistical Innovation

Established in 1993 to honor Dr. Emanuel (Manny) Parzen's 65th birthday and the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University. The Parzen Prize for Statistical Innovation is awarded in even numbered years to statisticians in North American universities who have made outstanding and influential contributions to the development of applicable statistical methods. The fund also provides support for the recipient to deliver the Parzen Prize Lecture.


Renate Schuessler-Laux Memorial Fund

Established in 1992 in honor of Dr. Renate Schuessler-Laux. Distributions from this fund will provide support to visiting physics scholars or students from Europe with preference for those from Russia and Germany.


A. Ian Scott Award in Chemistry

Established in September 2008 by Elizabeth W. Scott in memory of A. Ian Scott to provide an honorarium to the individual, a scientist who has made an important contribution to the area of bioorganic chemistry related to natural products, selected to present the A. Ian Scott Lecture.


Margaret Sheather Memorial Award in Statistics

Established by Simon J. Sheather in April 2010 in memory of his mother, Margaret Sheather. Distributions from this endowment will be used to provide an award to the student(s) producing the most outstanding master's project completed in the previous academic year in the Department of Statistics in the College of Science at Texas A&M University. The recipient must be enrolled as a graduate student in the Department of Statistics and must demonstrate outstanding scholarly achievement including superior academic standing.


Ethel Tsutsui Endowed Award & Lecture

Established in January 2004 by Dr. William M. Tsutsui to honor the memory of his mother, Ethel Tsutsui.

Building

George P. and Cynthia W. Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics and Astronomy Building

Established in November 2005 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 and Cynthia W. Mitchell to house the Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics and Astronomy. Groundbreaking is expected to take place in May 2006. This gift is to support actual physical building as well as architectural services for the buildings designed and performed by Michael Graves and Associates, as well as pay for outside services to assist in the architectural planning services during the design and structural process.


George P. Mitchell '40 Physics Building

Established in November 2005 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 and Cynthia W. Mitchell to house the Department of Physics. Groundbreaking is expected to take place in May 2006. This gift is to support actual physical building as well as architectural services for the buildings designed and performed by Michael Graves and Associates, as well as pay for outside services to assist in the architectural planning services during the design and structural process.

Chair

Arseven/Mitchell Chair in Astronomical Statistics

Established in November 2012 by Ersen Arseven '74 and The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation to benefit the George P. and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics and Astronomy in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and will support the teaching, research, service, and professional development activities of the chair holder.


Cyclotron Institute Bright Chair in Nuclear Science

Established in 2000 through the Bright Matching Program and funds from the Chemistry Department. The holder of the chair will have a joint appointment and will be selected by joint agreement between faculty of the Chemistry Department and the Cyclotron Institute.


Hershel E. Burgess '29 Endowed Chair in Physics

Established in 1989 in his memory and to honor him as a legendary track and field athlete and football player in the 1920's. Burgess served for many years on Texas A&M's College of Science development council. The Burgess Chair was made possible by a gift from the Ed Rachal Foundation of Falfurrias, and matched by a commitment from the university's Endowed Scholars Program.


C. J. Davidson Chair in Science

Established in 1981 through the C.J. Davidson Trust to fund an endowed chair in science to attract one of the world's outstanding bioorganic chemists and internationally recognized authority in biosynthetic chemistry.


W. T. Doherty-Welch Foundation Chair in Chemistry

Established in 1962 to be held by an eminent professor distinguished in chemistry and advancing the cause of basic chemical research in the Southwest, thereby encouraging students to choose chemistry as their field of endeavor, resulting in an outstanding program in basic chemical research and development.


Dow Chair in Chemical Invention

Formerly the "Dow Professorship in Chemical Invention". In May 2000 this professorship was upgraded to an endowed chair through individual and corporate gifts, and with matching funds from the Bright Matching Program.


Richard E. Ewing - ExxonMobil Chair in Computational Science


Gradipore Chair in Separation Science

Established in 2001 by Gradipore, Ltd., an Australian biotechnology company to support the separation science program in chemistry under the direction of Dr. Gyula Vigh.


Jill and Stuart A. Harlin '83 Chair in Statistics

Established in September 2013 by Jill and Stuart A. Harlin '83 to support the teaching, research, service and professional development activities of the chair holder (whose academic work is in the field of medical and public health statistics).


Richard Harrison, III/College of Science Development Council Endowed Dean's Chair in Science

Established in 1999 by Dr. Richard H. Harrison III, members of the College of Science External Advisory and Development Council and friends of the college. This chair is designated to be held by the dean of the college of science to enhance the programs and activities of the College of Science. Through the Bright Matching Fund Program, this chair was completed in 1999.


Stephen Hawking Chair in Fundamental Physics

Established in July 2002 by Mr. George P. Mitchell to permanently endow the Stephen Hawking Chair in Fundamental Physics. Distributions from this fund are used to support the teaching, research, service and professional development activities of the chair holder.


John W. (Bill) Lyons, Jr. '59 Endowed Chair in Biology

Established in December 2005 by Mr. John W. (Bill) Lyons '59 of Texas City. The funds from this chair will be used to support the teaching, research, service, and professional development activities of the chair holder in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University.


George P. Mitchell '40 Chair in Experimental Physics

Established in October 2004 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston. This chair will support the work of the faculty chair holder and is to be used at the discretion to advance the programs of the Department of Physics. Dr. Edward S. Fry is the inaugural chair holder.


George P. Mitchell '40 Endowed Chair in Statistics

Established in January 2006 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston. Funds from this chair will be used to support the current dean of the College of Science and at his discretion used to advance programs in the college.


Mitchell/Heep Chair in Experimental High Energy Physics

Established in April 2004 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston and with matching funds from the Herman F. Heep and Minnie Belle Heep Texas A&M University Foundation of College Station. This endowment will support a chair for a faculty member in the Department of Physics and is directly associated with the Cynthia W. and George P. Mitchell '40 Institute for Fundamental Physics. Dr. Peter M. McIntyre is the inaugural chair holder.


Mitchell/Heep Chair in High Energy Physics

Established in February 2003 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston to support the work of a faculty member in the Department of Physics.


Mitchell/Heep/Munnerlyn Endowed Chair in Observational Astronomy

Established in February 2005 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston and the Herman F. Heep and Minnie Belle Heep Texas A&M University Foundation of College Station and with funds from the Charles R. '62 and Judith G Munnerlyn Trust. This endowment will support a chair to attract or retain a senior faculty member in the Department of Physics.


Munnerlyn-Heep Endowed Chair in Quantum Optics

Established in March 2006 by Judith G. and Charles R. Munnerlyn of San Jose, California. Funds from this chair will be used to support a new faculty member in the Department of Physics.


Arthur George & Mary Emolene Owen Chair in Mathematics

Established in 1983 by Arthur G. and Emolene Owen. The holder of this chair must have a distinguished research record and considerable stature in the international mathematical community.


Thomas W. Powell '62 Chair in Mathematics

Established in December 2007 by Thomas W. Powell '62. This chair is to be used to support the teaching, research, service, and professional development activities of a renowned faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


Marsha L. '69 and Ralph F. Schilling '68 Chair in Experimental Physics

Established in August 2013 by Marsha L. '69 and Ralph F. Schilling '68 to support the teaching, research, service and professional development activities of the chair holder.


Schuessler/Mitchell/Heep Chair in Experimental Optical & Biomedical Physics

Established in April 2004 with gifts from Dr. Hans A. Schuessler of College Station, Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston, Dr. Alexei Sokolov of College Station and the Ed Rachal Foundation of Corpus Christi. This endowment will support the teaching, research, service, and professional development activities of the chair holder. At his/her discretion, income from the endowment can be used to enhance the goals of the Department of Physics.


William R. Thurman '58 Chair in Physics

Established in June 2008 by William R. Thurman '58 of Downey, California, to support the teaching, research, service, and professional development activities of the chair holder.


Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry

Originally established as a professorship in Chemistry this gift was upgraded in June 1997 to a Chair in the Department of Chemistry as a result of funds from the Robert A. Welch Foundation.


Robert A. Welch-Barton Endowed Chair in Chemistry

Originally established in 1994 to recognize the achievements of an eminent professor who has made advances in the field of basic chemical research. In 1997, the Welch Foundation generously upgraded the professorship to a $1 million endowed chair which was increased to a $2 million dollar endowed chair in 1999 to honor Sir Derek Barton. This chair was completed in 2000 through the Bright Matching Fund Program.

Fellowship

Derek & Christiane Barton Graduate Endowment

Established in February 1994 in honor of Dr. Barton's 75th birthday and in honor of his late wife Christiane. The endowment is to support an annual fellowship for a graduate student in chemistry and an annual lecture by a renowned chemist.


Friends of Cambridge Visitors' Fellowship


Stepheni Crawford and Jack Crawford Fellowship in Science

Established in December 2011 by Neil Crawford, in memory of his wife, Stepheni, and son, Jack, this gift will be used to provide a single fellowship to a student in good standing pursuing a degree in the College of Science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Preference will go to female students pursuing an astronomy or physics degree and who are also a U.S. resident.


Dow Chemical Company Graduate Fellowship in Chemistry

Established in 1984 by former students employed by Dow Chemical Company. This fund provides numerous fellowships to graduate students in the Department of Chemistry each year.


The Dow Chemical Company/Charlene Black Miller '79 Endowed Memorial Fellowship in Chemistry

Established by The Dow Chemical Company in February 2011 in memory of Charlene Black Miller '79. Distributions from this endowment will be awarded to a graduate research student who has demonstrated research excellence in chemistry, especially where genuine innovation has been achieved. The fellowship will be awarded in conjunction with Texas A&M's Student Research Week to full-time students in good standing pursuing a graduate degree from the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


Dr. Walter E. Koss Endowed Fellowship in Mathematics

Established in August 1999 by Dr. Walter E. Koss of Tuscaloosa, Alabama to provide one or more fellowships to full time students pursuing a graduate degree in Mathematics from TAMU.


Anant M. Kshirsagar Endowed Fellowship in Statistics

Established in June 2010 by Ersen Arseven '74 and Luisa L. Sia '74 in honor of their professor, Anant M. Kshirsagar. Distributions from this endowment will be used to provide one or more fellowships to full-time students in good standing pursuing a graduate degree from the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


Jack H. Lunsford '57 Endowed Fellowship in Chemistry

Established in March 2009 by friends, colleagues, and former students in honor of Jack H. Lunsford '57. Distributions from this endowment will be used to provide one or more fellowships for deserving graduate students pursuing research in Physical Chemistry at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


George P. Mitchell '40 Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Astronomy

Established in January 2005 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston, Texas. This fellowship will provide funds to attract young, extraordinary post-doctoral candidates in astronomy in the department of physics.


Carl M. Pearcy, Jr. '55/Heep Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Mathematics

Established in October 2003 by Dr. Carl M. Pearcy, Jr. of College Station. Dr. Pearcy's gift was matched by the Herman F. Heep and Minnie Belle Heep Texas A&M University Foundation. This fellowship will be awarded each year to incoming mathematics graduate students, and will be given to honor, on a rotating basis, four former professors of the Mathematics Department- Dr. E.C. Klipple, Dr. R.E. Basye, Dr. E.R. Keown, and Dr. N.W. Naugle.

Additional funds given in June 2005 by Dr. Carl M. Pearcy, Jr. of College Station. Dr. Pearcy's gift was matched by the Herman F. Heep and Minnie Belle Heep Texas A&M University Foundation. This fellowship will be awarded each year to entering graduate students in the Department of Mathematics, and will be given to honor, on a rotating basis, six colleagues and friends of Dr. Pearcy- William E. Coppage, Howard B. Curtis, Paul and Virginia Halmos, and Mollie and Richard Williford.


William A. Robba Endowment for Graduate Study in Physics

Established in March 2011 from the estate of William A. Robba '51, this gift will be used to support students with associated expenses of achieving advanced degrees from the Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


C. F. Squire Endowed Graduate Research Fellowship

Established in 1993 to provide support for graduate students in physics conducting research leading toward a master's or doctoral degree. First priority is given to students conducting research in condensed matter, low temperature or materials physics.


Statistics Former Students Endowed Fellowship


Dr. Chia-Lai Wang Memorial Fund

Established in June 1995 by friends and family to acknowledge the achievements of outstanding women graduate students in the Physics Department at TAMU, and to purchase technical books to supplement the Dr. Chia-Lai Wang Library Collection


Jean Reyna Whitmore Endowed Fellowship in Physics

Established in November 1994 by Dr. Frank C. Whitmore '60 of Brenham, Texas, in memory of his late wife, Jean Reyna Whitmore. Dr. Whitmore was a Physics professor at Blinn College and his wife Jean was one of the first women admitted to Texas A&M in the 1960's.


Bruno John Zwolinski Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Physical Chemistry

Established in October 1992 by family and friends to honor Dr. Bruno John Zwolinski, professor of Chemistry at TAMU. Funds are to be used to provide graduate fellowship for student pursuing a graduate degree from the College of Science in Chemistry -- specifically in Dr. Zwolinski's field of teaching and research: Physical Chemistry.

Graduate Scholarship

Roozbeh Arianpour Memorial Scholarship in Biology

Established in March 2004 by Mrs. Farideh Moharer Arianpour of Tyler, Texas in memory of her son. This scholarship will provide support for a full-time student pursuing a graduate degree in the Department of Biology.


Martin Donald Corera Memorial Endowed Fund

Established in June 1989 by family and friends in memory of Martin Donald Corera. Funds are to be used to support graduate students pursuing a graduate degree in Chemistry with preference to students pursuing a career in Chemistry Education.


Sharon Dabney Memorial Scholarship

Originally established in March 1972 by the Beta-Beta Chapter of Phi Lambda Upsilon to honor the memory of Sharon Dabney, a graduate student in the department of chemistry. Funds from this endowment provide an annual scholarship to an outstanding chemistry graduate student.


Marcetta Y. and Donald J. Darensbourg Graduate Student Travel Scholarhsip in Chemistry

Established in February 2013 by Dawn C. '96 and David A. '88 Mason, in honor of Drs. Marcetta and Donald Darensbourg, to provide one or more travel scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing a graduate degree in chemistry from the Department of Chemistry in the College of Science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


Marie & Jim H. '29 Galloway Graduate Scholarship

Established in March 2003 by Marie Galloway of Houston to honor the memory of her husband Jim H. Galloway '29. Funds will be used to support full-time students pursuing graduate degrees in chemistry.


James C. Goodlett '67 Endowed Scholarship in Statistics

Established in November 2004 by the late James C. Goodlett '67. These funds will be used to award scholarships and/or assistance for graduate students in the Department of Statistics.


Lawrence F. Guseman, Jr. Mathematics Graduate Scholarship Fund

Established in 1991 as a memorial to Dr. Lawrence F. Guseman, Jr. '60 by students, faculty, family, and friends. Funds from this endowment provide an annual scholarship for a graduate student in the Department of Mathematics.


Thomas J. (Tom) Hairston '71 Memorial Scholarship in Chemistry

Established in May 2005 by friends and family to honor the memory of Dr. Thomas (Tom) J. Hairston '71. Funds will support students pursuing a graduate degree in chemistry.


Norbert A. Hartmann, Jr. '64 Endowed Fund in Statistics

Originally established in January 2004 by Dr. Norbert A. Hartmann, Jr. '64 of Monmouth, Oregon. This graduate scholarship supports a full-time student pursuing a graduate degree in statistics with preference to programs involving applied statistics. In August 2008, Dr. Hartmann established a planned gift that will be added to the scholarship.


Gerry Meisner '78 and Robbie Peascoe '90 Graduate Travel Scholarship

Established in March 2003 by Gerald S. Meisner '78 and Roberta A. Meisner '90 of Knoxville, Tennessee to support full-time female students in good standing pursuing a graduate degree in inorganic chemistry from the Department of Chemistry in the College of Science at Texas A&M University.


Richard W. Schmude, Jr. Endowed Graduate Scholarship in Chemistry

Established in July 2003 by Dr. Richard W. Schmude of Barnesville, Georgia. This scholarship is to support a full-time student pursuing a graduate degree in chemistry.


Eva L. & Lee H. Smith Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2001 (effective February 2003) by Dr. & Mrs. Lee H. Smith of Dallas. This scholarship was established as a challenge grant to contributors to the Statistics Former Students Graduate Fellowship Fund. Once the former students fund reached endowment level, the funds provided by Dr. & Mrs. Smith were made available to provide a second fellowship for entering statistics students pursuing a graduate degree in statistics.


Dr. Minoru Tsutsui Memorial Endowed Graduate Scholarship in Chemistry

Established in December 2002 by Don Birkelbach '70 of College Station, Texas to honor Dr. Minori Tsutsui. Funds from this endowment will support a full-time student pursuing a graduate degree in the department of chemistry.

Lectureship

Lectureship in Biological Sciences


Abraham Clearfield Endowed Lecture Series in Inorganic Chemistry

Established in October 1992 to honor Dr. Abraham Clearfield, professor of Chemistry to promote the Abraham Clearfield Endowed Lecture Series.


F. Albert Cotton Medal & Lectureship

Established in 1993 in honor of Dr. Cotton's 65th birthday (April 9, 1995). Funds are to be used to support visiting lecturers, their travel and expenses in addition to any costs associated with production of annual Symposium including the F. Albert Cotton Medal.


The R.G. Douglas Lectures

Established in December 2014 by the Department of Mathematics to honor Dr. Ronald G. Douglas. Funds will be used to support an annual lectures series in the Department of Mathematics.


Ronald R. Hocking Endowed Lecture in Statistics

Established in 2001 by Dr. Ersen Arseven '75 to honor Dr. Ronald R. Hocking, Professor Emeritus of Statistics. This lecture series will focus on "Linear Models and Their Generalizations." The inaugural lecture was presented in October 2002 as part of the Department of Statistics' 40th anniversary celebration.


Dr. C. J. Maxson Endowed Lecture Series

Established in October 2005 by Dr. Ponnammal Natarajan of Alpharetta, Georgia to support an annual lecture series in the Department of Mathematics. Mathematicians will be invited to lecture on areas of current interest in algebra, combinatorics, number theory, and automata theory.


George P. Mitchell '40 Endowed Astronomy Colloquium Series Fund

Established in September 2005 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston. Funds from this endowment will provide support for an annual astronomy colloquium.


George P. Mitchell '40 Endowed Lecture in Astronomy

Established in September 2005 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston. Funds from this endowment will support an annual scientific lecture and public talk by a renowned speaker on a current topic in astronomy.


A. Ian Scott Endowed Lectureship

Established in 1994 in honor of Dr. Scott's 65th birthday to provide funding to support an annual lecture by a renowned chemist or biochemist, thereby providing outstanding educational opportunities to students in bio-organic chemistry.


Trotter Prize & Endowed Lecture Series on Information, Complexity, and Inference

Established in 2001 to honor Dr. Trotter's father, Ide P. Trotter Sr., former dean of the graduate school. Two recipients will be selected each year to receive the Trotter Prize and to present an invited lecture focusing on "Recognizing Seminal Contributions in Complexity, Information and Inference," the overarching theme of
the Trotter Lecture Series.


Emily & Robert Walker '45 Endowed Lecture in the Frontiers in Biology Series

Established in 1995 to expose individual faculty members and students to experts in the biological sciences through hosted lecturers.

Academy of Distinguished Former Students Endowment


William H. Bassichis Fund for Teaching Excellence in Physics and Astronomy

Established in February 2005 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston, Dr. Alexei Sokolov of College Station, and the Ed Rachal Foundation of Corpus Christi. Arthur E. Martell Endowed Professorship

Established in May 1999 in honor of Arthur E. Martell for his contributions as a world-renowned researcher to the field of science and his impact on faculty and students alike in the development of TAMU's Chemistry Department.


Mitchell/Heep/Munnerlyn Endowed Career Enhancement Professorship in Physics

Established in February 2005 by Mr. George P. Mitchell '40 of Houston and the Herman F. Heep and Minnie Belle Heep Texas A&M University Foundation of College Station and with funds from the Charles R. '62 and Judith G Munnerlyn Trust. This endowment will support a professorship/chair for a faculty member in the Department of Physics.


Rachal Professorship in Chemistry

Established in August 2004 by a grant from the Ed Rachal Foundation of Corpus Christi and gifts from Dr. Kevin Burgess of College Station. The funds from this endowment will support the work of the holder and can be used at the holder's discretion to advance the programs of the Department of Chemistry. Dr. Kevin Burgess is the inaugural holder of the professorship.

Dougherty Mike Medical Research Endowment

Established in 1995 by Lucille Dougherty, a longtime resident of Bryan, Texas, to recognize and reward full-time faculty in the College of Science whose medically-related research efforts have been particularly successful and nationally and internationally recognized. Resulting innovative research findings must be publishable or made available for use by the medical profession and the general public. Preference will be given to research that contributes to enriching the learning experiences of students enrolled in the College of Science.

Originally established in July 2002 by Cynthia W. and George P. Dr. George C. Bauer Memorial Scholarship

Established in Septmeber 1968 in memory of Dr. George C. Bauer, professor of analytical chemistry at the then A&M College. In teaching, Dr. Bauer was noted as a hard taskmaster, but he was also a highly competent teacher and was greatly respected because he was completely fair and impartial in his judgement of his students. This endowment provides scholarships to worthy students at Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas.


J. W. Birdwell '28 Endowed Scholarship in Science

Established in May 1995 by the late Dr. J. Weldon "Cotton" Birdwell, a practicing physician for almost 50 years in Tyler, Texas, who was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Cavalry Division. Funds will support an undergraduate student pursuing a degree that provides the necessary coursework to attend medical or dental school.

Established in January 2005 by College of Science former students in the medical/dental professions to support scholarships for undergraduate full-time students pursuing degrees as a medical professionals, i.e. physicians, dentists.


Shelia and Robert Templeton Endowed Scholarship in Mathematics

Established in January 2013 by Shelia and Robert Templeton to provide one or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in mathematics from the Department of Mathematics in the College of Science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


Texas Molecular Limited Partnership Endowed Scholarship in Chemistry

Established in March 2010 by Texas Molecular Limited Partnership. Distributions from this endowment will be used to provide one or more scholarships to students interested in Separation Science who are in good standing pursuing a degree in the Department of Chemistry in the College of Science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.


William R. Thurman '58 Endowed Scholarship in Physics

Established in June 2008 by William R. Thurman '58 of Downey, California, to provide one or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing degrees in physics from Texas A&M University In College Station, Texas.


Bruce Treybig Scholarship in Mathematics

Established in November 2007 by family, friends, colleagues, and former students to honor Dr. Bruce Treybig, Professor of Mathematics at Texas A&M University. Funds are to be used to provide one or more scholarships for deserving undergraduate students pursuing a degree from the Department of Mathematics.


William A. Triche and Homer A. Triche Endowed Scholarship Fund in Engineering, Science and Medicine

Originally established in November 2004 as a planned gift by Mr. William A. Triche, the scholarship became active in November 2005. Funds will be used to support students pursuing a degree in the College of Science.


Emily & Robert Walker '45 Endowed Scholarship

Established in April 1995 by Emily and Robert Walker '45 to support a full-time undergraduate student in College of Science at Texas A&M University.


Mary & Robert N. Walker Endowed Scholarship

Established in 1995 to honor Mrs. Walker's father, Robert F. Smith, a mathematics professor at Texas A&M University from 1882-1931, this scholarship benefits entering freshmen mathematics majors.


William E. Wheeler '46 Lifelines Scholarship in Biology

Established in February 2004 by Dr. Thomas A. Salzer '84 in honor of his wife's parents, Mr. & Mrs. William E. Wheeler, to support a full-time pre-med or pre-dent student pursuing an undergraduate degree in biology and a career as a medical professional.


John Todd Willis '44 Endowed Memorial Scholarship in Biology

Established in August 2002 by Mrs. Hester Beck Willis in memory of her husband, to support a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology in the College of Science at Texas A&M University.


Katherine A. and Ronald I. Wilson '72 Scholarship in Physics

Established in November 2012 by Katherine A. and Ronald I. Wilson '72 to provide one or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in physics from the Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
