The Emanuel and Carol Parzen Prize for Statistical Innovation Lecture will be given by C.R. Rao at 4 p.m. Monday (April 24) in Room 292 Memorial Student Center. His lecture is titled "Statistics: A Technology for the Millennium." A reception will follow at 5:30 p.m. in Room 205 MSC. The discipline of statistics emerged in the 20th century as a firmly grounded mathematical science due to the pioneering research of Pearson, Gossett, Fisher, Neyman, Hotelling, Wald, Cramer and Rao. Numerous honors and awards to Rao demonstrate the esteem in which he is held throughout the world for his unusually distinguished and productive life. The lecture is open to the public.
