The Parzen Prize for Statistical Innovation for 2000 will be awarded to C. Radhakrishna Rao of Pennsylvania State University on April 24 at Texas A&M University.

Rao will be honored for "outstanding distinction" in researching the theory of statistics, applying statistical methods to various fields and providing years of international leadership in statistical research.

Rao will present a lecture entitled "Statistics: A Technology for the Millennium" as a part of the award ceremony.

The Parzen Prize is named for Emmanuel Parzen, distinguished professor of statistics at Texas A&M University. The award was established in 1994 and consists of a citation, an honorarium of $1,000 and travel to College Station to present a lecture at the Parzen Prize award ceremony.

This honor was designed to recognize outstanding careers in the discipline and profession of statistics. The Parzen Prize is awarded by the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University to honor North American statisticians who have made innovative and influential contributions to the field of statistics.
