More than 40 graduate and post-doctoral chemistry students at Texas A&M University will get a chance to strut their stuff Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 29 and 30) during the 1997 Graduate Research in Chemistry Symposium. Other highlights of the event, sponsored by the Industry-University Chemistry Cooperative Program (IUCCP), include the keynote address by Linda Domelsmith, director of research programs for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Domelsmith will discuss "The Role of The Federal Government in Promoting University/Industrial Relations." A panel discussion featuring A. Ian Scott, distinguished professor of chemistry; William B. Smith, executive associate dean of the College of Science; R. Merritt Sink, leader of the BASF Process Development Research and Development Group; Emile A. Schweikert, head of Texas A&M's Chemistry Department; will follow her presentation. Researchers from IUCCP member companies also will describe their research.
