COLLEGE STATION --
"Celebrating Chemistry: Then and Now" is the theme for a National Chemistry Week poster contest sponsored by the Texas A&M University Department of Chemistry. In addition to the poster contest for National Chemistry Week, which is Nov. 4-10, the department will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Chemistry Building. The Chemistry Road Show, demonstrations and tours will be featured. Many of the events involve hands-on and computer activities.
Elementary, middle school and high school students in Bryan-College Station and the area are eligible to enter the poster contest. Entry deadline is Dec. 1. Local winners and those receiving honorable mention in four categories - K-second grade, third-fifth grade, sixth-eighth grade and ninth-12th grade - will receive savings bonds. The winning poster in each grade level will be submitted to the American Chemical Society, which will select national winners.
All local participants will have their posters placed on the Texas A&M National Chemistry Week web site.
