Financing Your Education
The College of Science offers many different avenues for funding your continued education. Last year alone, we allocated more than $400,0001 for graduate tuition fellowships. From assistantships to summer stipends, we have the options to suit your needs.
Tuition Payments
All graduate tuition is paid by the University or via research funds for every graduate student employed as a research or teaching assistant. Some programs provide additional funding for graduate fees. For non-Texas residents, all out-of-state (non-resident) tuition is waived.
Assistantships and Fellowships
Three types of graduate assistantships (teaching, research, non-teaching) are available through the College and its departments, as well as in University-affiliated agencies and administrative offices. Salaries range from $17,000 to $25,000 per year, depending on the department and position. Graduate employees also are eligible for generous insurance benefits. Taking into account the possibility of paid or waived tuition, total compensation for a College of Science graduate student can approach $35,000 per year. For more information, contact your respective department of interest.
