Faculty Senate: Science Caucus, Committees

The Faculty Senate, which reports directly to the President of Texas A&M University, reviews all policies dealing with curricula and instruction; academic standards including admissions, graduation and retention, scholarships, honors, and other forms of student distinction; and hiring, retention, tenure, promotion, and evaluation of academic personnel. It also serves as a forum for discussion and debate of any issue vital to Texas A&M.

Faculty Senate: Academic Affairs Committee

Has the responsibility to study policies, procedures, and regulations and to recommend actions in curriculum and instruction, academic standards, honors, and other matters affecting academic matters.

Faculty Senate: Budget Information Committee

To study the University budget and become thoroughly familiar with its structure, provisions, and development. To provide a member to attend each meeting of the President of the University or other officers as they prepare the University budget. To advise and recommend action on any issue pertaining to the development and content of the University budget to the Executive Committee of the Senate and to the Faculty Senate as a whole.

Faculty Senate: Bylaws Committee

The Bylaws Committee shall formulate and present the Bylaws to the Senate. The committee shall also consider and make recommendations on all amendments or changes referred to the committee by the Senate or proposed to the committee by other committees or by individuals.

Faculty Senate: Core Curriculum Council

Determines the extent to which the curriculum is consistent with the elements of the Core Curriculum component areas, intellectual competencies and perspectives as described by the THECB, and TAMU's educational goals and the exemplary educational objectives of THECB's common Core Curriculum are being achieved.

Faculty Senate: Election Committee

Shall conduct elections of the Senate, of Senate officers, and of Senate committees, consistent with the Constitution and Bylaws. It shall develop election procedures consistent with the Constitution and other bylaws for the consideration of the Senate.

Faculty Senate: Legislative Affairs Committee

This committee shall annually review and report to the Senate proposed legislation that may impact the educational process or employee benefits and working conditions. The committee shall also arrange to meet with local legislators to promote or discuss potential legislation.
