Natowitz to be Inducted into Mexican Academy of Sciences

COLLEGE STATION -- Dr. Joseph B. Natowitz, distinguished professor of chemistry and holder of the Cyclotron Institute Bright Chair in Nuclear Science at Texas A&M University, has been selected for induction as a Corresponding Member into The Mexican Academy of Sciences.

Natowitz will be honored Thursday (Nov. 12) in a ceremony to be held at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City. In conjunction with the event, Natowitz will deliver an invited lecture, entitled "Nuclear Science in the 21st Century."

Natowitz joins 70 foreign scientists -- including nine Nobel Prize winners -- in receiving the prestigious honor, which recognizes both scientific achievement and important contributions to scientific development in Mexico.

A member of the Texas A&M faculty since 1967, Natowitz is a research group leader in the Texas A&M Cyclotron Institute as well as a former director.
